Taeam's Time Strategies

To be completely honest with myself and my beloved readers, my time management may have been the worst out of any students at the University of Oklahoma. I have relied solely on my intelligence and spend little to no time actually studying and honing my skills. This two years approaching has been different as I decided to finally get my act together and take responsibility. Now, I constantly update my planner and calendar to make sure I get everything done ahead of time and in time.

The articles that I read and got tips from are the following:

Technology

Upon reading up on the technological requirements for this course, I was relieved to see that it was everything that I am already familiar with. Blogging is something I have started with this course and truthfully I have always wanted to start my own blog. For years since I was little, I wrote journals every night. While I do not do that anymore, it is nice to gather your thoughts on paper or screen at the end of a day.

Personally, I have not been too thrilled about classes being online as I believe face-to-face time is extremely valuable to education. However, with this unusual and dangerous pandemic going on, it is relieving and thankful to see even under all these safety measures, we are able to receive higher education. With this course this semester, I want to improve on my internet and blogging skills.

Future Assignments

Indian Epics MLLL-4993 course has intrigued me as this class has a totally different approach than what I am used to. Usually, a course consists of lecture, homework, quizzes, and exams. This course is all about storytelling of Indian Epics and expanding from that with each one of our own imaginations. Each student gets to make their own blog and tell their stories. "Famous Last Words" is an extra credit I have been looking more into as I enjoy the idea of wrapping up the week at the end and looking back at how I have done.

Growth Mindset

It is not about how one falls, but rather how one gets up after falling. The human brain is a magnificent factor of our lives. How we interpret certain situations and apply certain logic, is how the human society functions. Personally, I have spent the last four years at the University of Oklahoma trying to grow and mature in the mind. Your attitude, motivation, and thoughts all base on your mindset. I once was an intelligent, but extremely lazy individual. School was a breeze up until I came to OU. When I first realized that I would actually have to keep myself on schedule and be responsible for studying and ultimately my own life, I was very intimidated. Trying to keep up the same mindset every day in order to motivate myself was not easy at first. I kept finding myself wanting to go back to my old habits and keep on letting the world rotate around me. At the end, the more I thought about my future and how I want to be successful in order to support those that I love in the future, the more I was motivated with a positive mindset.

Introduction to a Future Head Pharmacist

Hello and welcome to my first blog! My name is Taeam Kang and I will be taking you all on a trip down my life. I first came to the University of Oklahoma to major in Microbiology, Pre-Dental. I enjoyed the field of dentistry and made the effort the past three years to work and get as many shadowing hours and experience as possible. However, this past summer I had a change of heart and changed my major to Pre-Pharmacy in hopes to further my education in pharmacy school. My career goal is to become a head pharmacist for Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals. The reason I decided on Pre-Pharmacy rather than Pre-Dental is my hands strangely shake constantly and I decided it’d be best if I did not choose the hand-on surgery route. It is not a serious condition as one can barely even noticed without staring hard at my hands, but I will entrust the field of dentistry to those more qualified.

I currently live with six of my friends in a house near Campus Corner. My family consists of my mother, step-father, and an older sister who attends the University of Oklahoma with me. My family used to have a dog and two lovely cats, but our dog died of old age and we gave our kitties away to our grandmother, who keeps 12 cats in her home.

My ultimate life goal is to give back. When I first moved to the U.S. 12 years ago, I was blessed with countless friends and those who wanted to help get myself settled in a new country. Those people continued to help and give and it really helped me open my eyes on what is important. I believe in a society where we can continue to help and bring each other up rather than dividing and blaming each other for all world problems. It is a vision of mine to see that the less capable people in the world, especially in the third-world countries get all the healthcare and medication they need without suffering.

One of my favorite places to be besides my room, is Pagosa Springs, CO. One of my best friend’s family has a condo up there where my friend group takes a trip to every Christmas break. I know, it’s just Colorado. However, this place will never be beaten as it is a tradition for our friend group now and we plan on continuing this tradition even after starting our own families one day. It’s just really monumental for our friendship, ok.

Well, I hope this explained the type of person I am a little bit, I’ll see you guys next time 😊

Storybook Favorites

- Gods and Mischief in the story of Creation

-        As a lifelong Catholic, the story of Creation has always been interesting to me. The story, Gods and Mischief in the Story of Creation, intrigued me as it questions bit of the ‘perfectness’ of god with mischief. As it is believed that the devil in a snake form is how it all turned South for Adam Eve, it was interesting that the introduction implied that they would be encountering sets of twins that come from the pantheon of Indian literature. I instantly clicked on the story as soon as I saw it and decided this was going to be one of the stories I will be working on. I enjoyed the background photo of the website, as it was an old black/white painting of Adam and Eve on Earth.

- Indra vs. Thor and Zeus

-        I recently watched an anime show called, ‘Seven Deadly Sins’, and the story had a beast from Hell named Indra. The topic of this story immediately captured my attention as I was looking for anything that peeped my interest. Indra is the Thunder God in Indian culture and it is equivalent to other mythological gods such as Zeus and Thor. Wow, how could I NOT choose this topic? I am a HUGE fan of ancient mythologies (Percy Jackson was my favorite book in middle school) and I could not have found a better story to work on.

- Horror in India

-        This caught my attention as the title was simple and a bit mysterious. The introduction was the gateway to a continuous story told in three different parts. There are cliff-hangers at the end of every story to keep the readers clicking to the next page. The background is horrifying as it depicts a four-armed goddess holding a human head by the hair and stepping on another victim’s body with one foot. Everyone loves a good horror story and this was more than able to keep my attention.

A trip to Glacier National Park, MT

 Glacier National Park, MT

People often believe one must go out of the country to see breath-taking natural reserves. Right here in the U.S. exists one of my favorite places to be; Glacier National Park in Montana. The park is essentially  hundreds of thousands of square feet of nature with rare animals and great sightseeing hikes.

St. Mary Lake is just one of the beautiful lakes you can go explore.
